On Wednesday, the John Hume and Thomas P. O’Neill, Jr. Chair in Peace at the University of Ulster was celebrated at the Beacon Hill home of Thomas and Shelly O’Neill and was co-hosted by the American Ireland Fund. 

The celebration of the Hume and O’Neill Chair in Peace brought together local dignitaries to commemorate the creation of the Chair that now resides at the Magee Campus at the University of Ulster in Londonderry, Ireland.  The Chair, the most senior of academic positions, will be a full time position focused on continuing to promote the goals that John Hume and Thomas P. O’Neill, Jr. championed for peace in Northern Ireland.
