Boston’s gardening aficionados will have several opportunities to view Mayor Thomas M. Menino’s 2012 Garden Contest awards ceremony on Comcast and RCN cable.  Mayor Menino’s annual Garden Contest was presented by the Boston Parks and Recreation Department in partnership with sponsors Comcast and the Boston Herald.  

The broadcast of the August10 awards ceremony hosted in the Public Garden by Mayor Menino will air on BNN TV’s News and Information channel 9 on Comcast and channel 15 on RCN.  Air times are Wednesday, November 7, at 8:30 p.m., Friday, November 9, at 4:30 p.m., and Sunday, November 11, at 7 a.m.

The program features the ever-popular awards ceremony, images of the beautiful award-winning gardens in neighborhoods citywide, and guest speakers.  This year’s winners received the “Golden Trowel” award, certificates, and prize packages from the Parks Department, Comcast, Mahoney’s Garden Centers of Brighton, and other sponsors.
