Five Things to Know Today, Feb. 9

Stolen dog rescued; kids' Beacon Hill Valentine's Day party today; plans for the Esplanade unveiled; favorite Girl Scout cookies; and a high of 46 degrees.

 

1. Pebbles is home! A man in Lowell recognized the dog from the news and grabbed her from the people she was with. Read the full story on Beacon Hill Patch.

2. Don't forget about the free Kids' Valentine's Day Party today at the Hill House from 3 - 6 p.m. Kids can enjoy cookie decorating, face painting by Pizzazz the Clown and arts and crafts. Everyone is welcome. The Hill House is located in the old firehouse, at 127 Mt. Vernon St.

3. If you are interested in the future of the Esplanade, be sure to attend the Esplanade 2020 meeting tonight at the Boston Public Libarary in Copley Square. The Esplanade association will unveil the plans it has been working on to improve the Charles River park. Plans could include the installation of more pedestrian walkways and a cafe. The meeting is in the library's Rabb Auditorium. 

4. What's your favorite Girl Scout Cookie? Nearly half off all Americans prefer the Thin Mint, at 49 percent, followed by Samoas (28%), Tagalongs (11%), Do-Si-Dos (6%) and Trefoils (6%). This is according to a Good Morning America/SodaHead.com poll and based on 28,000 responses during the first week of January.

5. More warm, sunny weather: weather.com is predicting a high of 46 degrees amid mostly sunny skies.
