Man Who Jumped From Ashburton Place Building Was a Suffolk Law Student

The Atlanta man was pursuing a double degree in business and law.

Police say the man who jumped from an Ashburton Place building on Friday was a law student at Suffolk University.

Just before 4 p.m. Friday police responded to a report of a man falling from a building, and then found him in a parking lot. He was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 4:10 p.m.

Police initially said the man jumped from 1 Ashburton Place, but reports now indicate it was from 8 Ashburton Place.

The man, Willie Carlton Sellers of Atlanta, was pursuing an MBA and law degree at Suffolk University. It is the second suicide on campus this year.

"As we mourn Willie’s death and contemplate these tragedies, it is important to remember the value of offering support if we see signs of stress in friends or colleagues. This may take the form of simple listening, or it may mean reaching out to connect someone in need with an appropriate member of the staff or administration," Suffolk University President James McCarthy said in a message to students
