Park Street Station Gets New Elevators
The new T GM cut a ribbon on two new elevators at America’s oldest T Station Friday.
America’s first subway station just got an upgrade.
MBTA General Manager Beverly Scott introduced two new elevators at Park Street station Friday morning.
The elevators were made possible through a collaborative effort among the MBTA, City of Boston, the Massachusetts State Legislature and the disability community, according to an MBTA statement.
They were installed “to further honor commitments made in the 2006 settlement between the MBTA, the Boston Center for Independent Living and several individuals to improve accessibility across the system,” the statement said.
“Because of this collaborative effort, the first subway station in America is now more accessible to people of all abilities,” the statement said.
