Good Shepherd School Honors Veterans Day

In honor of Veterans Day, Good Shepherd School arranged a visit with Mr. Nicholas, a veteran. Nicholas spoke to the children about what his responsibilities included and made comparisons that the children could relate to. For example, our veteran talked about how he helped those in need just like parents and teachers help their children, and how he had to follow a strict routine just like the children follow the same school routine day after day. The children asked some great questions such as “What do you drive?” and “How do you help all of the hurt people at once?”. We found out that Nicholas drove a helicopter while serving and that sometimes he had to work 24 hours a day to help as many people as he could.  The children each shook the veteran’s hand and thanked him personally for being a brave soldier and fighting for our country. To finish off our Veterans Day celebration, the children made some very patriotic, red, white and blue cards for the wounded warriors. The children thanked the veterans for all their hard work and for being the brave individuals that they are. Veteran’s day is a time to be thankful for the men and women serving and who have served our country. We felt it was important to honor our veterans and take time to remember their dedication to the United States. Thank you veterans!
