Faustman to Kick Off Beacon Hill Women's Forum Sept. 3

MGH immunobiology director and Harvard professor to speak at Forum's inaugural meeting.

The newly-formed Beacon Hill Women's Forum will kick off their first official year of programs with Dr. Denise Faustman Tuesday, Sept. 3 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hampshire House.

According to a release from the Forum's Suzanne Besser, Faustman is currently Director of the Immunobiology Laboratory at the Massachusetts General Hospital and an Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School.

Besser said Faustman "has made exceptional contributions to medical science while at the same time mothering two college-bound children" and has spent nearly two decades working in the field of autoimmunity.

At the meeting, Faustman "will present a broad look at healthcare and medical research, and talk specifically about why it takes so long to introduce a new drug to the market for type 1 diabetes."

She'll also talk about balancing her career with raising two children.

There will be appetizers and a cash bar Tuesday. There's a $50 fee to join the Forum and $20 for each meeting. A September special upfront price of $180 covers the joining fee and entry to all 2013-2014 events. Contact Lisa Macalaster at lisamacalaster@gmail.com.
