Man Held on $100K For Esplanade Sexual Assault

Joseph Barthel, 49, of Waltham, was ordered held on $100,000 cash bail after a court appearance on Monday after he was arrested for sexually assaulting a homeless woman on the Esplanade in Boston, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office.

MA Legislators Approve $34 Billion Budget

Beacon Hill legislators approved a new $34 billion budget Monday for fiscal year 2014, according to an Associated Press story published by the Boston Herald. According to the report, the House voted 123-29 and the Senate 36-3 to approve the spending plan.

One Fund Boston Gives $60 Million to 232 People

The One Fund Boston began distributing more than $60 million to all 232 eligible Boston Marathon victim claimants on Saturday, as planned. Fund administrator Kenneth Feinberg said the payments represent 100 percent of all the money collected by the One Fund through June 26.  The Fund received a total of 259 claim applications by the June 15 deadline.
