Five Things: A Fashion Event on Charles Street

1. Fashion on Charles: Two neighboring Charles Street retailers will host a special spring fashion event this Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. Second Time Around, at 82 Charles St., will host three jewelry artists—Boston University student Courtney Schwabe, butterfly wing jewelry artist Crystal Popko, and Newton silversmith Lisa Sachs—all of whom are featured at noa jewelry, fine handcrafts & gifts. noa, whose jewelry and gift items are created exclusively in New England, opened last September at 88 Charles St.

2. Greening your downtown home: Whether you rent a studio apartment or own a single family townhouse there are lots of ways you can reduce your energy costs and contribute to a more sustainable community. Join the Neighborhood Association of the Back Bay Thursday, April 25, from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, at 110 Commonwealth Ave., in meeting with representatives from the MassSave program to discuss low- to no-cost energy retrofits. The group will also talk about rebates and incentives that are available to help you save money.

3. Movie Tuesdays: Join ABCD North End/West End NSC (1 Michelangelo St.) for a free screening of the film “We Have a Pope” today at 1 p.m. This “hilariously funny and delightfully honest” film by Italian director Nanni Moretti chronicles the story of selecting a new pope. It will be shown in Italian with English subtitles. Popcorn and beverages will be served. RSVP to 617-523-8125.

4. Prom drive: At-Large Boston City Councilor Ayanna Pressley is holding a prom dress and tuxedo collection drive this morning from 8-9 a.m. at the Eastern Bank adjacent to Ashmont Station (1906 Dorchester Ave.). Donations can also be dropped off at Pressley’s fifth-floor City Hall office and locations in Jamaica Plain and Dedham. The clothing will be given to Boston area teens this prom season.

5. Partly sunny: Showers and thunderstorms are possible before 11 a.m. today, with a slight chance of rain between 11 a.m. and noon. The rest of the day will be partly cloudy and breezy, according to the National Weather Service. More showers are likely late in the evening. High: 71, Low: 46.
