Five Things: Public Safety Meeting on Beacon Hill After Several Shocking Crimes

And more to know today, Nov. 13.

1. Community Safety Meeting: The Beacon Hill Civic Association will hold an informational community meeting Thursday at 7 p.m. with Capt. Tom Lee, commander of the downtown district, in light of the recent crimes on Beacon Hill, in particular the sexual assault early Saturday morning. The meeting will be at 74 Joy St.

2. Beacon Hill Tree Guards: The new tree pits on Charles Street is almost done. Most have been cut out and are in process of being cemented in. But there is still time to sponsor one. The Beacon Hill Civic Association has a map with pits that have yet to be named.  

3. Annual Newbury Street League Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony: Stop by Cafeteria at 279A Newbury St. at 5 p.m. for the Annual Newbury Street Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony.

4. WorldBoston Great Decisions Series: Indonesia: Come to the BPL from 6 to 7:30 p.m. to learn about the emergence of Indonesia from authoritarianism into Democracy.

5. Weather: The National Weather Service is predicting a rainy day with a high of 48. The evening will be cloudy with a low around 37.
