Hey everybody! I'm the organizer of a weekly lounge night in Beacon Hill. We started up in September and things have been heating up ever since! On Thursday, February 13th, I'm bringing back two very special guests. Over the past few months, That Somebody has taken the Boston music scene by storm, planting her signature bass-heavy and emotional sound in Beacon Hill and letting its tendrils spread worldwide via several critically-acclaimed online mixes.
I'm happy to announce that this edition of Thursdays at 6B Lounge will serve as the opening night to her brand new monthly project, "Breathing Room," where she will offer up expertly-selected tracks to simply vibe to while enjoying a stiff drink. Her musical tastes are heavily influenced by '90s R&B and hip-hop, refracted through a lens that simultaneously looks forward into the future and backward into the past. Later that night, Derek Wakeen will be making his third command appearance at 6B Lounge. With his affinity for international rhythms and bassline-driven music, Derek interweaves deep house with tech house and dub while keeping a watchful eye on the ebb and flow the evening. His sets are guided by remixes from an earlier underground generation inspired by Detroit House and 90s dance. On any given night, you can expect this Merrimack Valley native to bring positive energy and a textured setlist led by tight claps and full basslines.
