Celebrate the Remarkable Women of Boston! Mother's Day Brunch and Film Screening at the Vilna Shul

Come and learn about the women who changed the face of physical culture in Boston and paved the way for better health in our the city.

Join us for a kosher brunch and a spectacular presentation by librarians Helaine Davis and Linda Stern in our historic sanctuary. Inspiring, funny, and innovative, it's the perfect way to spend your afternoon. We will also be screening a special documentary about the fearless Annie Londonderry, the first woman to bicycle around the world!

Helaine Davis is the third generation of her family to live in Greater Boston. With a professional library background that includes work in art and other special collections in public, academic and museum settings, she currently works as a consultant librarian, assisting individuals with their research in genealogy, American history, rare books, decorative and fine arts.


Linda Stern, originally from Rochester, NY, has lived in Greater Boston for most of her adult life. She has worked in educational settings from pre-school through community college as both teacher and librarian. Linda has developed curricula for several special projects and worked extensively with primary sources related to the abolitionist, suffrage and transcendentalist movements.

The Vilna Shul is a 5 minute walk from the Charles/MGH stop on the Red Line and parking is available nearby for $5 with validation at the front desk. You must have a green ticket to validate.
