Film: The Legacy of Joseph Gifford

Boston filmmaker Jill Uchiyama directed the film The Legacy of Joseph Gifford (2013) and will be shown at Boston University's Tsai Performance Center on Monday September 16th.
Joseph Gifford has been a Beacon Hill resident since 1974. The film covers the essence of Joseph's life as one of the sole survivors of the Doris Humphrey-Charles Weidman dance group as well as his rich career in teaching movement to actors at Boston University and musical conductors all over the world.
At 93 years old, Joseph is still teaching and inspiring his students with his rich spiritual influence as well as his years as a movement teacher and dancer. The film, the first in a series of more Legacy films to come, strives to capture the essence of Joseph's life including his long-term partnership with Talbot Waterman and his charming pet parrot Hero, who died during the making of the film.
The film is 57 min followed by a question and answer with Ms. Uchiyama and Joseph Gifford.  Presented by the CFA School of Theatre and BU Development & Alumni Relations.
