GUITAR GREAT STANLEY JORDAN COMES TO BOSTON'S SCULLERS JAZZ CLUB

Four time Grammy nominee
Stanley Jordan brings his astonishing musicianship and highly original sound to
Boston’s Scullers Jazz Club for two shows with his trio, including Kenwood
Dennard, at 8 and 10 PM on Saturday, April 26
.  Scullers is located at
the Doubltree Suites by Hilton Boston in Cambridge, at 400 Soldiers Field Road,
Boston MA 02134, and tickets are available at (877)777-8932.

Since his blockbuster debut
with the gold-selling Grammy-nominated album Magic Touch, guitar virtuoso Stanley Jordan has consistently displayed a
chameleonic musical persona of openness, imagination, versatility and maverick
daring. Be it bold reinventions of classical masterpieces or soulful
explorations through pop-rock hits, to blazing straight ahead jazz forays and
ultramodern improvisational works—solo or with a group—Jordan can always be
counted on to take listeners on breathless journeys into the unexpected.

Key to Stanley Jordan’s
fast-track acclaim is his innovative "touch technique.” A classically
trained pianist before playing guitar, Jordan wanted greater freedom in voicing
chords on his guitar, so he applied piano principles to do so. This
revolutionary technique allows Jordan to play melody and chords at the same
time, as well as to play simultaneously on two different guitars, or even on
both guitar and piano.

His most recent album
"Friends" on Mack Avenue Records was nominated for an NAACP Image
Award. Los Angeles Times jazz critic Leonard Feather wrote, “Genius is a word
often tossed around in musical circles, but it has been rightfully applied to
Stanley Jordan.” To date Jordan has performed in over 60 countries on 6
continents. He performs frequently as a soloist and with his band, as well as
collaborating with other guitarists such as Kevin Eubanks, Sharon Isbin and
Muriel Anderson. He's also a frequent guest with beloved bands such as the Dave
Matthews Band, the String Cheese Incident, Phil Lesh and Friends, Moe and
Umphrey's McGee.
