Community Corner

HeART for ART on the Common

On June 7th, families from our community will gather on the Common (near Earl of Sandwich). We will have a table set up with art supplies so people of all ages can paint a heart and “donate” it to ARCK. We’ll then display the hearts in local businesses to promote arts and culture in Boston. It’s going to be a huge social media drive — businesses will choose a day to tweet and post about #AHeartForArt, and they may offer ARCK a % of their total sale of that day. People who create the hearts can find out where they end up by following #FollowMyHeart.

It’s going to be fun, and will involve lots of local businesses. We’re hoping to generate quite a buzz — but at its heart, the event is to spread the word on arts education for underserved students in the Boston Public Schools. We want Boston to be a city rich in arts and culture, but if our BPS children have little access to arts ed, how can we expect Boston to be truly world-class? There are about 128 BPS schools, with 57,000 students — imagine the impact we could have if these children had more access to creative learning.

We need your support! Light refreshments (and FREE Ben & Jerry's!) will be provided, so come out, have some fun, and help support ARCK and our vision!
