Three-Time Super Bowl Champ Joe Andruzzi Hits the Links for Cancer Patients at Sixth Annual Golf Tournament

On Monday, June 30, New England pro athletes and celebrities will once again tee off to raise money for cancer patients and their families at Pinehills Golf Club (Plymouth, MA) for the Sixth Annual Joe Andruzzi and Friends Golf Tournament. Hosted by three-time Super Bowl Champion and cancer survivor, Joe Andruzzi, his wife Jen, JAF Executive Director, and Patriots co-captains Rob Ninkovich and Matthew Slater, the tournament will raise funds and awareness in support of the Joe Andruzzi Foundation’s mission of providing help, hope and a reason to smile for patients and their families when it is needed most.

Previous New England stars playing in the tournament include: Vince Wilfork, Rob Gronkowski, Julian Edelman, Tedy Bruschi and local comedian Lenny Clarke, among many others – and this year’s supporters can plan for more of the same as a robust turnout of area athletes and celebrities is anticipated.

Last year’s tournament raised a record $278,000, and proceeds from this year’s event – presented by JAF-supporter East Commerce Solutions, Inc. – will once again allow JAF to help alleviate cancer’s financial and emotional impact on patients, as well as fund critical pediatric brain cancer research at Boston Children’s Hospital.

Golfers will hit the links at 10 a.m., playing a “scramble” format – where foursomes tee off, then choose the best of the groups shots for the next shot. All golfers then play the second shot from that location, and again choose the best shot. This process is continued until the ball is holed. Following the round, participants will enjoy a celebratory dinner reception featuring a live and silent auction of priceless sports memorabilia, entertainment packages and much more.

Foursomes are now available for the tournament in addition to various sponsorship opportunities. For more information, contact Gillian Furey at golf@joeandruzzifoundation.org. Registration is also available online at http://bit.ly/JAFGolf14
