Boston FBI Rescues 3 Kids from Prostitution

Effort was part of a national sweep against pimps and the sex trade.

The FBI and several other agencies have completed a three-day underage prostitution sting, rescuing 105 juveniles from the sex trade. Three of the kids were rescued by the Boston FBI, though it remains unclear where in the Boston office's four-state jurisdiction the rescues occurred.

“Child prostitution remains a persistent threat to children across America,” said Ron Hosko, assistant director of the FBI’s Criminal Investigative Division, in a statement released by the bureau. “This operation serves as a reminder that these abhorrent crimes can happen anywhere, and the FBI remains committed to stopping this cycle of victimization and holding the criminals who profit from this exploitation accountable.”

The sting, called Operation Cross Country VII, was enacted in partnership with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and federal, state and local officials. It is part of the larger Innocence Lost National Initiative. Actions taken in accord with the initiative have netted 1,350 convictions and freed 2,700 from the sex trade, according to the FBI statement.
