Cambridge Street Billboards Evoke Marathon Images

The billboards are for the Boston Police Foundation.

You may have noticed these two new billboards located on Cambridge Street at the foot of Beacon Hill, billboards that thank Boston Police and evoke images related to April's bombings at the Boston Marathon finish line.

The image in the billboard on the left was seen worldwide in the hours following the bombings that killed three people and injured hundreds of others. The second was an oft-repeated image in the days following the bombings of people posing for pictures with first-responders.

The billboards, which are above the building the houses the Red Hat, a Dunkin' Donuts, and Ueno Fusion II among other businesses, are fundraising advertisements for the Boston Police Foundation.

According to their website, the mission of the foundation is to support "the brave men and women of the Boston Police Department by funding vital programs, equipment and technological capabilities to improve safety for our city and her police officers."

(Hat tip to BostonTweet for first noticing these billboards.)
