Fatal Storrow Drive Motorcycle Crash Investigated

Man in his 40s tentatively identified as victim, authorities seeking confirmation from next of kin.

Authorities are investigating a motorcycle accident Sunday evening on Storrow Drive that claimed the life of a man in his mid-40s.

According to a statement from the Suffolk County District Attorney's office, investigators have tentatively identified the man but as of Monday morning had not yet confirmed his identity through next of kin.

State Police discovered the crash site around 10:30 p.m. Sunday just past the Longfellow Bridge. A trooper was traveling eastbound when he observed the deceased man, who was wearing a helmet, lying in the roadway with a Harley Davidson motorcycle nearby on its side.

Authorities "are attempting to determine the cause and circumstances of the crash, but investigators observed scrape marks on the pavement, the curb, and a Jersey barrier near the end of a tight curve in the roadway," according to the DA's office.

The Suffolk County State Police Detective Unit, Troop H investigators, the Crime Scene Services Section and the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section are investigating the crash.

Anyone with information on the crash is being asked to contact State Police detectives at 617-727-8817.
