Hingham Bank Robbed at Gunpoint

Police are looking for the man who got away with thousands of dollars in Tuesday's robbery.

Police say a middle-aged man robbed Hingham Institution for Savings at gunpoint Tuesday just before 5 p.m.

The man approached a teller, partially displayed the barrel of a black handgun inside a black duffle bag and told her she had 30 seconds to open the safe and give him the money, according to police reports. He told her not to push the alarm button and not to include any bait money.

The teller retreived the cash, totalling $9,300, at which point the robber told her to put it on the counter. He then fled the bank, walking down Charles Street toward Beacon Street.
