Police Release Video of Beacon Hill Rape Suspect

Anyone with information that might identify the man is asked to call police.

Boston police have released a video of the man they suspect raped a Beacon Hill woman in her home early Saturday morning in hopes of identifying him.

The man is described as a black male with braided hair, 5’8” in height, late 20s to early 30s, medium complexion, wearing a du-rag type cap, a tan colored three-fourths length construction type jacket, dark jeans and dark sneakers. Suspect believed to be carrying a large blue backpack with a white helmet. 

According to police, officers got their first call about the assault at 3:15 a.m. Saturday morning. When they arrived to the home near Joy and Myrtle streets, the victim told officers a man broke into her home, flashed what looked like a knife, then robbed and sexually assaulted her.

Anyone with information is asking to call the Boston Police Sexual Assault Unit at (617) 343-4400, CrimeStoppers Tip Line anonymously at 1-800-494-TIPS or text the word ‘TIP’ to CRIME (27463). The Boston Police Department says it stringently guards and protects the identities of those who wish to remain anonymous.

The Beacon Hill community will be meeting with Capt. Tom Lee Thursday at 7 p.m. at 74 Joy St. to discuss recent crimes in the neighborhood, including this one.
