MBTA Short Changed: Receives Half Federal Security Funding

In 2013, the MBTA got half of what it did in 2012.

By Bret Silverberg

The MBTA received over $3 million less this year in terms of federal security funding as compared to 2012.

The Boston Globe reports the MBTA received $3.25 million, down from $6.6 million for security grants in 2012, despite applying for $15 million.

Due to the drop, the MBTA will be unable to provide additional security at stations, yards and tunnels, according to the newspaper.
