Red Line Shuttle Diversion For This Weekend Postponed

The diversion has been postponed to the weekend of Sept. 14 and 15.

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation has announced a reprieve for travelers who would have faced an MBTA Red Line diversion this weekend.

A planned shuttle bus diversion that would have replaced train service between Kendall/MIT station in Cambridge at Park Street station in Boston has been postponed to the weekend of Sept. 14 and 15.

The diversion would have impacted service at the Charles/MGH station near Beacon Hill.

The postponed diversion is necessitated by the ongoing $255.5 million Longfellow Bridge rehabilitation project. The first of the planned diversions took place earlier in August.

According to the MBTA's website, the remaining diversions are scheduled for Sept. 14-15, Oct. 19-20 and Oct. 26-27.
