The community open house at 84 Beacon St. will take placed in the Thayer Room from 6 to 9 p.m., with refreshments to be served and an informal presentation to start at 6:30 p.m.
Owner Dean Stratouly has been keeping up 124ChestnutStreet.com to keep residents informed on the project.
He wrote on the site that upon buying the home this past February, he and his wife realized the home would require "a complete gut" and being in the real estate business, he and his wife were "excited about the opportunity to restore this building to its original condition."
But upon inspection, Stratouly said there were problems that ran deep regarding the home's condition, including "visible signs of foundation failure" as well as "signs of significant and continuous water infiltration into the exterior walls" among other safety and structural deficiencies.
Stratouly has posted a new letter on the website regarding claims made by the Beacon Hill Civic Association and the Boston Preservation Alliance at the Beacon Hill Architectural Commission meeting in July.
