A 13-year-old Boston teenager believed abducted by his father was found by Cambridge police Tuesday night. Massachusetts State Police issued an Amber Alert for 13-year-old Jonathan Moore, whom they believe was abducted by his father Tuesday night. According to the alert, police were searching for 36-year-old Jonathan Moore senior, the child and a woman. Police are looking for a red 1997 Toyota Camry, license plate 634 RH4. The suspected abductor, Moore senior, is black, 36 years old, six feet, three inches tall, with black hair and brown eyes. There was no description of Moore senior's clothing. Bike-related crashes spiked a small amount given the higher ridership in the Boston area over the course of the last two years. Mayor Thomas Menino’s office released the City of Boston Cyclist Safety Report May 15. The report, which analyzed data from the last four years, found that bicycle related crashes were up 2 percent according to the Boston Police Department and 9 percent according to Boston EMS between the period of 2010 and 2012. Boston Police data shows an increase of 11 bike crashes, from 477 to 488, between 2010 and 2012, and the EMS data shows a spike of 44 crashes, from 477 to 521, during the same period, according to the report. Massachusetts State Police will be on the lookout for people driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Massachusetts State Police will be operating a sobriety checkpoint this week at an undisclosed location in Suffolk County. The checkpoint will operate sometime between Thursday, May 23 and Friday, May 24. “The purpose is to further educate the motoring public and strengthen the public’s awareness to the need of detecting and removing those motorists who operate under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs from our roadways,” Colonel Timothy P. Alben, superintendent of the Massachusetts State Police, said in a press release. A development company this week filed plans to build a mixed-use building at the entrance to the arena and North Station that would feature retail and office space, a hotel and up to 500 residential units.

Former high school teacher Pat Conaway sees real hope in the young people who help him clean the area's trails, waterways and roadways.
Pat Conaway admits he is "kind of a nut" about the environment, so when he retired from teaching in 2008, it didn't take long for him to find a number of productive ways to spend his time. "I wanted to get people fired up about the environment, to try to encourage citizens to get involved locally," said Conaway, founder of Big Hearts, Little Feet. A nearly constant presence on area roadways, trails and waterways, Conaway can be found leading groups of volunteers, including many students, to pick up trash, improve trails and remove invasive species. Transit police said suspect "inappropriately assaulted" a female boarding the Green Line C trolley at Park Street last week.
MBTA Police are searching for a male suspect they say "inappropriately assaulted" a female last week at Park Street Station. According to transit police on their website, the male assaulted the female last Tuesday, May 14, while boarding a Green Line C trolley at Park Street. The suspect is a white male who was wearing a red shirt at the time of the incident as well as a gray hooded sweatshirt with black horizontal stripes, blue jeans and sneakers. Anyone who knows the identity of the suspect or knows their whereabouts is encouraged to call the MBTA's Criminal Investigations Unit at 617-222-1050. Boston Fire, State Police responded to Ashburton Place building.
UPDATE, 2:30 p.m.: On Twitter, Boston Fire said they responded at 1:05 p.m. Monday to the state office building for "an envelope on floor 20 with white powder in it." Boston Fire confirmed the location was the state Attorney General's office. They said the envelope was left in place "per protocol" and there were no evacuations. Hazmat techs from Boston Fire "used meters in area and all were negative," the department said on Twitter. The envelope was then "over-packaged" and taken to the state lab for further tests. Boston Fire said they "checked out" the person who opened the envelope but that person did not require treatment. They added that Massachusetts State Police will be investigating the matter further.
