The bacteria is used in farming, as a food supplement for humans and livestock and as an ingredient in organic dog food, according to a government Q&A, attached as a PDF. The tests will be done in Cambridge and Somerville at the Davis, Harvard Square and Porter Stations. Many of us have noticed the MBTA's service announcement regarding cell phone theft in Boston, and an incident last weekend is exactly the type of scenario the announcement warns of. Except this time the would-be thief didn't get away. MBTA passengers rallied to a woman's call of "They stole my phone!" and wrestled a suspect to the floor at Stony Brook T. The incident took place on Friday at 12:24 a.m. Just as an Orange Line train opened its doors, someone grabbed a cell phone from a passenger and fled with two other men. All three had been sitting near the victim: One to her left and two across from her. The woman's cry for help didn't go unheeded, according to a Transit Police report. The organization said it will be probing the events on Boston Common this weekend.
The American Civil Liberties Union of Massachusetts is investigating the conduct of Boston police following the release of controversial photographs depicting an officer with his hand on the neck of a protester at a Tea Party rally on the Boston Common over the weekend. The photos, shot by 22-year-old UMass Boston student Paul Weiskel, also show police attempting to stop photographers from taking pictures of them, even though the First Amendment grants citizens the right to do so. A video clip of the incident can be viewed here. "The ACLU of Massachusetts takes seriously the First Amendment freedoms of everyone in the Commonwealth, so it is carefully reviewing the police department's conduct during the Tea Party rally at the Boston Common …
