Beacon Hill Church Director Indicted

Edward J. MacKenzie Jr. faces federal charges including racketeering and extortion.

  The director of a Beacon Hill church has been indicted on numerous felonies including racketeering, extortion and bribery, according to a report on Boston.com. Edward J. MacKenzie Jr., 54, of Weymouth, was indicted by a federal grand jury on these charges after an investigation into his conduct as director of the Boston Society of the New Jerusalem, which operates the Church on the Hill on Bowdoin Street. The indictment alleges MacKenzie and several others seized control of the church with the intent of steal its financial assets, according to Boston.com. FBI: Man Killed in Florida in Connection with Marathon Bombings

During a confrontation with the FBI and the Mass. State Police, a Florida man was shot and killed and an officer was injured.

One man is dead and an agent is injured after a confrontation between the FBI and Mass. State Police in connection with the Boston Marathon bombing in the Orlando area on Wednesday morning.  The FBI on Wednesday morning said an agent, two Massachusetts State Police troopers and other law enforcement personnel were interviewing an individual in connection with the Boston Marathon bombing when he attacked the agent.  The FBI identified the person shot and killed as Ibragim Todashev, 27. During the confrontation, Todaschev was shot and killed and the agent sustained non-life threatening injuries.   "As this incident is under review, we have no further details at this time," the FBI said.

AMBER ALERT: Police Find Missing Boston Child in Cambridge, Suspect Still At Large

Police are searching for the boy, a woman and 36-year-old Jonathan Moore, believed to be driving at red 1997 Toyota Camry, license plate 634 RH4.

A 13-year-old Boston teenager believed abducted by his father was found by Cambridge police Tuesday night.  Massachusetts State Police issued an Amber Alert for 13-year-old Jonathan Moore, whom they believe was abducted by his father Tuesday night. According to the alert, police were searching for 36-year-old Jonathan Moore senior, the child and a woman. Police are looking for a red 1997 Toyota Camry, license plate 634 RH4. The suspected abductor, Moore senior, is black, 36 years old, six feet, three inches tall, with black hair and brown eyes. There was no description of Moore senior's clothing. Suffolk County Sobriety Checkpoint Planned Thursday

Massachusetts State Police will be on the lookout for people driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Massachusetts State Police will be operating a sobriety checkpoint this week at an undisclosed location in Suffolk County. The checkpoint will operate sometime between Thursday, May 23 and Friday, May 24. “The purpose is to further educate the motoring public and strengthen the public’s awareness to the need of detecting and removing those motorists who operate under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs from our roadways,” Colonel Timothy P. Alben, superintendent of the Massachusetts State Police, said in a press release. Boston Fire, State Police responded to Ashburton Place building.

UPDATE, 2:30 p.m.: On Twitter, Boston Fire said they responded at 1:05 p.m. Monday to the state office building for "an envelope on floor 20 with white powder in it." Boston Fire confirmed the location was the state Attorney General's office. They said the envelope was left in place "per protocol" and there were no evacuations. Hazmat techs from Boston Fire "used meters in area and all were negative," the department said on Twitter. The envelope was then "over-packaged" and taken to the state lab for further tests. Boston Fire said they "checked out" the person who opened the envelope but that person did not require treatment. They added that Massachusetts State Police will be investigating the matter further. Evidence Points to Boston Marathon Bombers' Connection to Waltham Murders

Investigators are looking into the possible involvement of the accused Boston Marathon bombers in the 2011 triple homicide in Waltham.

Authorities have amassed evidence indicating accused Boston Marathon bombers Tamerlan and Dzhokar Tsarnaev possibly killed three men in a Waltham home in 2011, according to ABC News. Investigators have "mounting evidence" including forensics pointing toward the Tsarnaev brothers," says ABC.  Tamerlan was killed in an April 19 shootout with police in Watertown and Dzhorkar was later captured hiding in a boat in Watertown.  After the April 15 bombings, federal and state authorities began investigating the brothers' possible link to the murders after learning Tamerlan was a close friend of one of the victims, Brendan Mess. Man Accused of Groping Woman Near Government Center

A city man was arraigned on his third indecent assault and battery charge Tuesday stemming from an incident on a Green Line train in Boston.

A Salem man on probation for groping two women at North Station is accused of groping a third on a Green Line train between Haymarket and Government Center late last year, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said. Dane Mullin, 27, was ordered held without bail Tuesday in Boston Municipal Court on a single charge of indecent assault and battery. He reportedly also had open warrants for failure to register as a sex offender and assault and battery out of Salem District Court.  Investigators used surveillance images "from multiple stations" to link Mullin to a Dec. 17 incident on the Green Line during which he allegedly groped a woman between Haymarket and Government Center, according to release. Cause of Death Issued for Tamerlan Tsarnaev

Suspected Boston Marathon bomber's death caused by gunshot wounds, being run over by car.

The death of accused Boston Marathon bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev has been ruled a homicide, according to a WCVB-TV report. According to the report, Tsarnaev's death was caused by gunshot wounds from police bullets and being run over by a car. Tsarnaev, 26, was pronounced dead at Beth Israel Deaconness Medical Center in Boston at 1:35 a.m. on Friday, April 19. Specifically, Tsarnaev sustained gunshot wounds to his torso and "extreme" blunt trauma to his head and torso, according to WCVB. Police have said Tsarnaev was run over by his brother, Dzhokar, during a shootout with police in Watertown. Boston Police: Three New Bombing Suspects in Custody

Officials stress there is no threat to the public, details still emerging.

Boston Police announced a major new development in the Boston Marathon bombing case Wednesday morning. According to the department, there are three new suspects in custody. Boston Police tweeted the news just after 11 a.m. Wednesday. There were no further details, though the police said they would offer more information soon.
