Beacon Hill Beautification Projects Get $17,750 From the City
The money will go toward enhancing the tree pits along Charles Street and the flower bed at the Phillips Street Play Area.
The city of Boston awarded $17,750 in grants two Beacon Hill projects this month as part of Beautify Boston program, which supports the beautification and infrastructure projects that enhance usability and transform neighborhoods' open spaces. The city gave the Beacon Hill Civic Association $10,000 to assist with the purchase and installation of plantings in the tree pits along Charles Street. In honor of its 90th anniversary, the BHCA has undertaken the project of beautifying the 57 tree pits along Charles Street. The grant will be matched by the BHCA, which as raised $150,000 toward the project, and has secured 31 sponsors for the pits.
