Photos: Retail Fashion Truck Showcase for Boston Fashion Week at City Hall

Six retail trucks showing off their finest threads and more featuring The Fashion Truck, Lola's Urban Vintage, ARTichoke, The Brkfst Clb, Sneakerbox, and the Boston Sports Apparel Company.

As a part of Boston Fashion Week, City Hall Plaza has been looking as stylish as Newbury Street thanks to a Retail Fashion Truck Showcase. Tay Mullah owns BRKFSTCLB, a life-skills building company, that Mullah conceived after counseling prisoners for 10 years. He realized the criminals were getting younger and younger, so he wanted to reach out to youth before they were in trouble. "Each shirt is based upon a theory from an activist, researcher or a philosopher. The kids design the shirt," said Mullah, while sitting on the edge of the trailer. Inside the trailers are hip t-shirts, pants, accessories, hats and for the Sneakerbox fashion trailer - sneakers.   The pilot Retail Fashion Truck Showcase is at Boston City Hall Plaza from 11 a.m. …

Boston Fashion Week Begins Thursday with Gala

Opening night venues in Back Bay, Beacon Hill and downtown.

Boston Fashion Week kicks off Thursday night with an opening splash-out gala at The Mandarin Oriental and continues through Oct. 6, jam-packed with events at venues in Back Bay, Beacon Hill, downtown and more.  Thursday's Opening Night Gala in "The Tent" shines a spotlight on local designers and is sponsored in part by Lynn Dale. "Guests will sip themed cocktails and enjoy canapés and food stations ... and enjoy a special appearance from Fern Mallis, widely credited as the creator of New York Fashion Week," according to the Boston Fashion Week website.  The party lasts from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. and costs $250 per ticket.
