Over three nights, Democratic leaders took aim at Republican nominee, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, and his running mate Congressman Paul Ryan. A number of Massachusetts Democrats spoke at the convention, including Gov. Deval Patrick, Congressional candidate Elizabeth Warren and Senator John Kerry. Boston Mayor Thomas Menino delivered a short speech Wednesday night at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C. He spoke mostly about Governor Mitt Romney's time as the chief executive of the Bay State. And he wasn't complimentary. Menino derided Romney's performance as a job creator, saying Massachusetts ranked 47th in the nation for job growth under the Republican's leadership. Did you hear Menino's remarks? Similar to the first night of the Democratic National Convention, Massachusetts will be in full force on the second night. Boston Mayor Thomas Menino, Congressman Barney Frank and Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren are all scheduled to speak during tonight’s session. Menino is scheduled to speak in the 5 p.m. hour, Frank will speak in the 8 p.m. hour and Warren will speak in the 10 p.m. hour. Warren will speak shortly before Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and President Bill Clinton. Gov. Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick came out firing Tuesday night at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, attacking his predecessor Mitt Romney's record in the Bay State. "Mitt Romney talks a lot about all the things he's fixed," he said. "I can tell you that Massachusetts wasn't one of them. He's a fine fellow and a great salesman, but as governor he was more interested in having the job than doing it." Democrats say Romney was bad for the Bay State.
CHARLOTTE — State Auditor Suzanne Bump vouched for President Barack Obama's record on jobs while jabbing at former Gov. Mitt Romney's job-creation credentials during an appearance Monday at the Democratic National Convention. "Mitt Romney talked about his focus being on jobs … the reality is that he was not a job creator when he was in Massachusetts," said Bump at a Massachusetts delegation breakfast. "He used the same tired strategies of Republicans before him." Criticism for Romney, who governed the state from 2003 to 2007, was plentiful at the morning event.
