How Did Your Neighbors Vote? Ward-by-Ward Comparisons of Voters

See how Beacon Hill stacks up to the rest of Boston in terms of turnout and voter preferences.

Beacon Hillers turned out to vote on Tuesday in better numbers than Boston on average -- a pleasant surprise to some after turnout of less than 10% of registered voters in the primaries earlier this year. And although the majority of Beacon Hill residents still voted Democrat, a larger proportion of residents voted Republican when compared with Boston-wide results. Read on to see the break-down. (In the tables, Beacon Hill Ward 5 includes most of Beacon Hill (Ward 5; Precincts 3, 4, 5 and 11). Beacon Hill Ward 3; Precinct 6 includes a smaller part of western Beacon Hill as well as Government Center and some of the Financial District. Beacon Hill Voters Expect Wins for Petruccelli, Patrick

Beacon Hillers at the City Hall polls predict victories for incumbent Democrats.

Beacon Hill voters showed strong support for incumbent Democratic candidates during the first hours of polling at City Hall earlier this morning. Even before the sun rose, a group of about 25 voters gathered outside, blowing into their hands to keep warm before the doors opened at 7 a.m. A steady stream of voters continued to arrive throughout the first couple of hours. The majority of Beacon Hillers and other Boston residents who live in ward 3, precinct 6 said they voted for Deval Patrick for governor and incumbent Democrat Anthony Petruccelli (D-First Suffolk and Middlesex), for state senator.             Echoing the sentiment of most early-morning voters, Brian Murphy of Bowdoin St., predicted Patrick would "squeak through" and said he…
