Harvest Fest at Phillips Street Play Area a Success

Girl Scouts, little fireman and more celebrate the season on Beacon Hill.

The following was sent in by Cindy Sullivan of the Friends of the Phillips Street Play Area: The gorgeous fall weather helped to make the 4th Annual Phillips Street Play Area Harvest Fest a huge success – the best yet! Families enjoyed many activities including face painting, crafts, pumpkin decorating, games, yummy food, coffee donated by Starbucks, gourds donated by Whole Foods, and songs from local musician Nick Burka. The play structure was full of children all dressed up in their Halloween best! Attendees also had a chance to vote on the “Kid’s View” Art Contest from drawings submitted at Beacon Hill Block party. Five year old Bella, eight year old Sara Rhouate and eleven year old Tatum Oakley won J.P. Licks gift certificates. The …

Fourth Annual Harvest Fest at Phillips Street Play Area this Saturday

The event will feature author Sheila Cunningham.

The following is an edited press release from the Friends of the Phillips Street Play Area:  The Friends of the Phillips Street Play Area will welcome a special guest, author Sheila Cunningham, at their fourth annual Harvest Fest this Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. Cunningham is the author of Willow’s Walkabout, A Children’s Guide to Boston, and will be reading and signing copies from 1-2 p.m. The book is available for purchase at Blackstone’s of Beacon Hill or at the event. If the children are lucky, they might just catch a special appearance by Willow the Wallaby herself! Kick-off Meeting Announced For Friends Of The Phillips Street Play Area

If you'd like to get involved with the Play Area, mark March 15th at 7 p.m. on your calendar.

Article and info provided by Friends of the Phillips Street Play Area: Spring is almost here, and the Friends of the Phillips Street Play Area (PSPA) would like to invite all neighbors and friends to the first planning meeting of 2012.  The meeting will take place at the Vilna Shul, 18 Phillips St. (across from the playground) on Thursday, March 15th from 7 to 8 p.m. In 2011, the Friends of the PSPA hosted many events including a spring book and bake sale, a multi-week “Picnic in the Park” series and a wonderful fall Harvest Festival.   The popular picnics featured entertainment by a jazz trio, an ice cream social, a musical performance by JeffJams, the MAD SCIENCE workshop and family favorite Tilly the Clown.
