During the Beacon Hill Civic Association’s Green Committee first meeting of the New Year Tuesday, the group refocused its collective efforts intensely focused on one concept: recycling. Committee member Jordan Bray presented the group an updated version of its recycling flyer, a “cheat sheet” that includes a full list of household items that are recyclable along with the proper drop-off location for each of those materials. The flyer will go through one more round of editing before it is published online at the BHCA’s website. Similarly, committee member Vidya Sivan agreed to help design a poster that could be distributed to Beacon Hill landlords and management companies to help educate the neighborhood’s significant number of apartment …

Beacon Hill residents can expect to see 19 new trees planted in the area before winter arrives, thanks to the actions of the Beacon Hill Civic Association's Tree Committee, which met Wednesday night. Chaired by Linda Cox since 2006, the Tree Committee's stated goals are to preserve and restore the trees of Beacon Hill, and replace those that are hazardous to the community. Seven neighborhood residents attended Wednesday's meeting, the group's third and final meeting of the year. Greg Mosman, chief arborist for the city of Boston, attended as well. In addition to the Committee's plans for new planting, a schedule is also in place to have each of the neighborhood's trees pruned by year's end. The group has been organizing tree pruning since …
