Recycling Rundown: Where to Put the Unusual Stuff
A quick guide to recycling electronics, paints and other dicey household waste in and near Beacon Hill.
Recycling is a big deal in Beacon Hill. So much so that some residents want to banish a trash day and replace it with another recycling day. Newspapers, bottles, cans, plastic -- Beacon Hillers recycle it all. But the recycling process becomes much murkier even for the seasoned recycler when it comes to the more destructive stuff. What should be done with batteries? What about paint? Where do all the broken mobile phones go? No-Pest Strips? There's a long list (see PDF at right) of hazardous household items and electronics that should not go into a landfill (I mean, nail polish remover -- who knew?)
