ReplyThank you David Ertischek and Matt O'Malley for making me laugh, because I'm still upset that so many guys are running and the voters really have their work cut out for them. Now I'm going to read the interview again....

ReplyNIMBY. Not always something you might say with pride. But NIMBY. I have no need to be an early adopter in this case. How about near a hospital?

On the Blog Post Downtown Schools for Boston

ReplyIf busing your child across town counts as access, we're OK. But the puzzle in Boston now is how to provide access to quality to all kids, without having everyone criss-cross the city. And the dearth of neighborhood options for downtown families is a longstanding challenge that needs to be part of any solution. Thanks, LWC.

ReplyThank you TEA, for the creative solution to the loss of a valuable shade tree. Stoneman Playground doesn't get the love and care – or heavy use, like Clarendon, several blocks away – it deserves from us neighbors, but it is an appreciated resource nonetheless. Re-purposing the stump is a welcome update for the playground.

On the article Should Students Have a Longer Day at Select Boston Public Schools?

ReplyBPS Superintendent Johnson was being urged to resign by some just two weeks ago. It sounds like creating more Project Promise Schools – adding time and instruction for students who *are* the achievement gap – instead of attempting to lengthen the school day for everyone, might help the Teachers Union and the district move out of the contract impasse. If so, congrats to Carol Johnson for trying to move past her own judgment errors in a personnel matter, and get the conversation back to what’s good and fair for students and teachers.
